This article will touch on a few different methods of deletion for your data backup jobs:

  • Deleting the data backup job (active backup subscription required)

  • Deleting your data backup master key (active backup subscription not required)

  • Deleting individual records within your data backup job

Deleting the data backup job requires you to have a active data backup subscription. If you would like to delete the job after your subscription expires, please consider the Delete a Data Master Key option. Otherwise, Gearset will delete the data after more than 90 days of the license expiring and not renewed.

Alternatively, please reach out to our Support Team via the in-app chat using the Intercom icon in the bottom right, we can extend your trial to allow you to remove the backup data.

Depending on what exactly you're looking to delete, this article will provide guidance on the task you're looking to complete. Let's start with deleting the job itself.

Deleting a Data Backup job

To delete a data backup job that your team no longer needs, first navigate to the Data backup jobs tab on the window on the left:

From there, find the job you'd like to delete and select Edit job. Once you do, you'll see an option to Delete job and backup history...

In the following window, you'll be asked to confirm your intent to delete the job by typing in a phrase: delete data.

Note: Deleting this job will also delete all data that has been backed up in that org. Gearset will be unable to recover any of that data once the job has been deleted.

Deleting a Data Master Key

Deleting a data master key will permanently and irrevocably delete all of the data backed up by your team in Gearset.

To delete your team's data records stored in Gearset, you can go to the data management page of the app and scroll to the bottom section, where you will find the button to remove the backup master key.

This will render all of your backup data unusable, and make your backup data completely irretrievable. We'll cover deleting specific records from a backup job below.

Deleting Individual Records within your Data Backup Job

If you're looking to delete individual records within your data backup job, we have a separate article with detailed steps to follow here:
