Configuring ticket tracking in Pipelines

How to enable Jira, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, or Linear ticket tracking in a pipeline and link tickets to features.

License requirements:
Ticket tracking in Pipelines is available on Deployment Teams and Deployment Enterprise licenses.

Enable ticket tracking in each pipeline that uses your ticket system. You can then select a ticket when you create a feature, and Gearset names the feature branch from it.

Connect your ticket system first. See Connecting a ticket system to Gearset.

How do I enable ticket tracking in my pipeline?

  1. Open your pipeline.

  2. Click the cog icon, then select Edit pipeline details....

  3. Go to Issue tracking.

  4. Select your ticket system: Jira, Azure DevOps, Linear, or Salesforce Tickets.

  5. Complete the settings for your ticket system.

Azure DevOps

Before you save, select your organization in Azure organization for Work Items integration. Each pipeline uses one organization, and you can only link work items from that organization. Gearset currently supports work items in Azure DevOps Cloud organizations only.

6. Click Save.

To add a second ticket system, click Connect another issue tracker.

To update ticket statuses as work moves through the pipeline, see Updating a ticket's status in Pipelines.

How do I create a feature from a ticket?

  1. In your pipeline, click your developer sandbox.

  2. Click New feature.

  3. Select the ticket system for the feature. You can add more tickets later.

  4. Select the ticket to link. You can filter or search the list.

  5. Check the branch name. Gearset fills it in from the ticket, and you can edit it to match your naming convention.

  6. Compare your sandbox to the feature branch, select your changes, and click Commit changes.

The linked ticket shows on the feature branch, and in the PR details after you create a pull request.
