When creating or editing a backup job, you are able to adjust the permissions of your backup job to grant varied levels of access to members of your team, depending on the roles and needs of that user. This article details how each permission affects access to the backup job.

How do I view or edit the permissions on my backup job?

To view or edit permissions, select Edit job... -> Edit settings... on the job you want to edit, then navigate to the Permissions tab on the opened modal.

What permissions are enabled by default?

By default, the job owner will always have full access to the backup job. Permissions cannot be removed from the job owner without transferring the job to another team member. Team owners and job owners can transfer ownership of the job by selecting Edit job... -> Transfer ownership on the chosen job card.

In addition, all team owners have View and Delete permissions by default.

What does each permission grant?

View permission

Users with the View permission can see the job on their dashboard, displaying its status, last run and next run info. They will not be able to browse the data in the job or make any changes to the job's settings.

Browse permission

Users with the Browse permission can view, browse, and search the data contents of each job. By default, enabling the Browse permission will also automatically give the user View permissions.

Execute permission

Users with the Execute permission can run, reschedule, disable, and enable jobs. By default, enabling the Execute permission will also automatically give the user View permissions.

Edit permission

Users with the Edit permission can update job settings, notifications, smart alerts, and object filters. By default, enabling the Edit permission will also automatically give the user View permissions.

Delete permission

Users with the Delete permission can delete records from the job as well as the entire job and its history. By default, enabling the Delete permission will also automatically give the user View and Browse permissions.

Restore permission

Users with the Restore permission can restore records from runs of the job to the org. By default, enabling the Restore permission will also automatically give the user View and Browse permissions.

Download permission

Users with the Download permission can download metadata and data from runs of the job. By default, enabling the Download permission will also automatically give the user View and Browse permissions.
