You'll need to connect Gearset to your Marketing Cloud org to deploy changes between business units (BUs).

To connect Gearset to Marketing Cloud, you'll need to:

  1. Create an installed package with a server-to-server API integration.

  2. Add the credentials for that integration to Gearset.

Note: You'll need the Installed Package | Administer permission to create the installed package.

Create an Installed Package

In Marketing Cloud, hover over your username and select Setup. From the Setup screen, go to Apps > Installed Packages.

Click New. Give the package a name and description, for example:

Name

Gearset

Description

API Integration for Gearset

Click Save to create the package, and then click Add Components.

In the Choose your Component Type modal, select API Integration and click Next.

In the Choose your Integration Type modal, select Server-to-Server and click Next.

In the Set Server-to-Server properties modal, check all of the checkboxes.

Click Save. You'll now get your Client Secret.

This is the only time you can view your client secret. Make sure you take a note of it and store it securely - treat it like a password.

Make a note of your client secret - you'll need it later - and click Finish.

On the Access tab, click Enable All Business Units.

Click Enable All.

Your package is now set up and you're ready to add the credentials to Gearset.

Add the credentials to Gearset

In Gearset, go the the Marketing Cloud orgs page and click Add new Marketing Cloud org.

You'll need to enter your Marketing Cloud Account ID.

You'll find your Account ID back in Marketing Cloud. In Marketing Cloud, hover over your username and select Setup.

From the Setup screen, go to Company Settings > Account Settings.

In the General Settings section, you'll find your Account ID.

Copy and paste your Account ID into Gearset, and click Create credentials.

You'll need to enter your Client Secret. Paste your Client Secret from your Installed Package into Gearset, and click Enable business units.

Check I have enabled the integration for all business units to confirm that your Installed Package has access to your business units, and click Add integration credentials.

You'll need to enter your Client Id and Authentication Base URI.

You'll find these back in Marketing Cloud. In Marketing Cloud, hover over your username and select Setup.

From the Setup screen, go to Apps > Installed Packages, and open the package that you created earlier. On the Details tab, you'll find your Client Id and Authentication Base URI in the Components > API Integration section.

Copy and paste your Client Id and Authentication Base URI into Gearset, and click Test credentials.

You'll have a chance to review your credentials. When you're happy, click Test credentials.

You'll know the connection is successful when Gearset lists your business units.

Enter a friendly name for your org, and click Save connection.

Now you're ready to start deploying changes between business units.
