Creating a Gearset account
Go to https://gearset.com/ and click START FREE TRIAL (or go directly to https://app.gearset.com/create-account).
At Gearset we support the following methods to create a Gearset account:
Email and Password
OAuth via Salesforce, Google, LinkedIn
SAML
Email and Password accounts are prohibited by default from joining existing teams or any new team that is created using an OAuth or SAML method. This can be configured by team owner using the Identify Restrictions settings.
To create a new Gearset account click on Create your Gearset account on the landing page
You will be presented with the follow screen
Email and Password accounts
To create an account using an Email and Password.
Enter the email address that you wish to use to sign up for an account and click Continue with email ->
This will send an email to the corresponding email address with a sign up link.
The sign up link is valid for 1 hour or until used.
If you require a new sign up link then please visit https://app.gearset.com/create-account.
After clicking the sign up link and the link has been verified you will be presented with the following screen to complete your profile and account creation.
The password must be 12 characters long.
These passwords must satisfy ASVS V2.1.1. Verify that user set passwords are at least 12 characters in length (after multiple spaces are combined). This means any 1 or more sequential spaces will be collapsed to a single space when checking verifying the length property.
After clicking Create account & get started you will then have successfully created your Gearset account.

OAuth accounts

Log in using one of your existing Salesforce, Google, LinkedIn accounts or SSO.
If prompted to allow access by Salesforce, Google, or LinkedIn, click Allow. (You can revoke access at any time in your personal settings.)
If you choose Salesforce, our recommended process is a two step process:
Firstly install the Gearset app (this will open in a new tab). Here is a more detailed guide on installing the Gearset Connected App.
Connect to the app by logging in via Salesforce.
Complete your Gearset profile by naming your Gearset team (or letting us create one for you using the name generator!), and enter a contact phone number.
Click CREATE ACCOUNT to finish setting up your profile.
That's it! After signing in, you'll have unrestricted access to all Gearset's features, with no usage limitations. Here are some key features to try during your trial.
Navigating Gearset
The first time you sign in to Gearset, you'll be greeted with our Welcome page. This page will give you handy guidance on getting started.
On the Team Management section of your Account, you can see how many days are remaining on your trial.
In the center, you'll see options to connect your Salesforce orgs and any Git-based source control provider connections. Connecting your source and target orgs is the first step you need to take to try out our powerful comparison and deployment engine. Learn how to connect your orgs.
Click My trial on the left-hand side to open the menu. From here you can explore other areas of Gearset.
We suggest starting by selecting the Compare and deploy page, to run your first comparison and see side-by-side differences between your orgs. To find out more about running your first comparison and building a deployment, see this doc.

Commonly asked questions
Will Gearset access the Salesforce org I log in with?
Will Gearset access the Salesforce org I log in with?
No. Gearset will not access the metadata from the Salesforce org you log into the app with. We only use your Salesforce/Google/LinkedIn account to create a local profile in Gearset. This saves you creating a separate Gearset account, and means we never store or access your user credentials.
Which account should I log in with?
Which account should I log in with?
Your Gearset profile will be linked to the account you first log in with, so it's a good idea to pick one that's going to stay around. Your production Salesforce login or a Google account are ideal, but you can also use any developer or sandbox account too. Just make sure to sign in with the same account each time.
Sandboxes are not preferred: when sandboxes are refreshed, your Salesforce user account is sometimes deleted and recreated. This can mean you'll lose access to your previous history in Gearset, as your Gearset account is tied to a specific Salesforce user. We recommend you don't use sandboxes for paid Gearset subscriptions.

Use the live chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner to get technical support. Our support team typically reply in minutes rather than hours, and no question is too big or too small.
