If you haven't started your 30-day free trial yet, go here!

What orgs can I connect to Gearset during my trial?

You can connect any and as many Salesforce Orgs to Gearset as you want.

In your free trial you can do this by clicking the Connect and compare your Orgs button.

Follow these instructions for more information.

Once you have clicked that button you are taken to the window to add your Source org.

We recommend connecting via O-Auth / Salesforce Authentication.

Once you click Authorize you will be brought to a Salesforce page and asked to sign in. You also have the option to set up a monitoring job, unit testing job and data backup on that org.

Once you have completed that for both orgs you are ready to run your comparison.

You can also add an Org connection from the my connections tab. Instructions can be found here.

Don't feel like connecting your production org yet?

Still want to test out all the key features of Gearset?

Here are a few ways to try Gearset without connecting your production Org:

Create sandboxes

Once you have created Sandboxes and linked them to your Gearset account you will be able to use all the powerful features Gearset has to offer, without connecting your production Org straight away.

Since the Sandbox is spun up from your production Org, the metadata will be the same as your production Org. Therefore, you will be familiar with the metadata within the Org and any deployments that you do will be a great replica of a real deployment. To create Sandboxes, please see Salesforce documentation here.

Create scratch orgs

Once you have created Scratch Orgs and linked them to your Gearset account you will be able to use all the powerful features Gearset has to offer, without connecting your production Org straight away.

A scratch Org is a powerful tool that can be connected into Gearset. Although it won't contain all the metadata and data in the production Org, you will still be using metadata from your Org, so that deployments are again a good replica of going into production.

To create a scratch Org, please see the Gearset documentation here or the Salesforce documentation here.

Create Salesforce developer edition orgs

If you are unable to create Sandboxes or Scratch Orgs but still want to trial using Gearset then you can create multiple Salesforce Developer Edition Orgs. These can be created for free here.

Once you have created and connected a few Orgs, then you are able to use all the powerful features Gearset has to offer. Using this method is a completely free and safe way of trying out Gearset for the first time. None of your owned Orgs are being connected to Gearset.

This does mean that the metadata will not be similar to your production Org in any way. However, you can make as many changes to your Dev Orgs without any worry at all.
