Assigning add-on licenses to team members

Team Owners can assign add-on licenses, such as Gearset Agent, to individual team members or to several members at once.

Written by Josh Camilleri

Some Gearset features are sold as an add-on license, which sits on top of your team’s main license. Gearset Agent is one of these features.

Some add-on licenses are assigned per user, so a team member needs the add-on assigned to them before they can use the feature. This article explains how to check who has an add-on license, and how to assign it. The screenshots use Gearset Agent as an example.

Note: Only team Owners can assign and unassign licenses. If you have Member status, ask a team Owner to assign the add-on to you.

Who on my team has an add-on license?

Go to the Team management page and look at the License column in the team table. A badge appears next to a team member’s license when they have an add-on assigned, for example a Gearset Agent badge.

How do I assign an add-on license?

On the Team management page:

  1. Click Manage licenses.

  2. Select the add-on license in the list.

The badge for that add-on then appears against the team member in the License column. To unassign an add-on license, clear it from the same list.

Assigning an add-on to several team members at once

If you’re rolling an add-on out to a group of people, you don’t need to work through them one at a time:

  1. Select the team members you want to assign the license to.

  2. Click the Bulk actions dropdown.

  3. Choose the option to assign the add-on license.

Do trial licenses need to be assigned?

No. Trial add-on licenses apply to your whole team automatically, so there’s nothing to assign while you’re trialing a feature. You only need to assign licenses once your team has bought the add-on.
