Archive Viewer includes an optional Restore feature that lets users recover/unarchive archived records directly from Salesforce, without leaving the page. When enabled, a Restore button appears next to archived records on the parent record's Archived Records tab or in Global Search.
Enabling Restore
Restore is turned off by default. An admin can switch it on for all users from the Archive Viewer setup settings in the Gearset app.
Note: This enables the feature for your entire org - there is no per-user or per-profile setting. Once enabled, all users with access to Archive Viewer or Global Search will see the Restore button.
Restoring a record
Once Restore is enabled:
Navigate to the parent record in Salesforce (e.g. an Account).
Click the Archived Records tab.
Find the record you want to recover. You'll see a Restore link next to each archived item.
You can do the same from Global Search.
Click Restore.
A "Restoring…" status indicator appears while the operation is in progress.Once restore is completed the status will change to reflect that.
What gets restored
When you restore a record, Gearset recovers:
The archived record itself
Associated file attachments
Related data (e.g. linked Account ID)
Restoring will not remove the archived record from the Archive, this ensures that no data is lost in case there have been any metadata changes between the archive date and restore date.
Note: When triggering restore from Archive Viewer or Global Search, Gearset will not disable all the rules / automations / flows, that it would if the restore was triggered directly from Gearset App.
