Sandbox seeding problem analyzers

Catch potential seeding issues before you deploy

Written by Nick Apostolides

When deploying test data, errors can be experienced due to the setup of the target org. Gearset can leverage our understanding of your Salesforce metadata, to identify problems ahead of time. Sandbox seeding provides a way to disable automations before the deployment, preventing some errors. However some issues have to be resolved in Salesforce. Problem analyzers are there to alert you to these potential issues.

Problem analyzers

As you add objects to the sandbox seeding, Gearset analyzes your metadata and data for potential errors. The scan is indicated by a progress icon on the object.

When the scan is complete, a warning triangle will be shown if potential errors have been found.

Hovering your mouse over the triangle will show you the issue details, if only a single issue was found. Otherwise, it will give you a link to view all potential issues.

To view all issues, you can also click the link at the bottom of the page (next to the "Configure Masking" button).

Taking action on potential issues

For each potential issue, there are three actions that can be taken.

Suggested fix:

The best way to take action on a potential issue, is to make changes in Salesforce. Suggested fix takes you to Gearset documentation that will help you resolve the issue.

Auto-filter

If you feel the invalid data is not needed, it can be filtered out. This will prevent errors, however it will also reduce the records being seeded.

Ignore Issue

If you are confident that the issue will not affect your deployment, you can hide the issue. This will allow you to focus on the most important errors.
