Users have written to us ask how to retrieve Standard Value Sets in Gearset.

Sometimes, when users only specify the Standard value set in the metadata filter, Gearset results shows no results, which can be very confusing. This article explains how to retrieve the Standard value set you need.

It turns out that for Salesforce metadata API to return the Standard value set, you need to include the Custom object metadata type.

Here is an example of CaseStatus being retrieved with Custom object (named item Case) and Standard value set (named item CaseStatus) in the metadata comparison filter.
